Hossegor Surfing this August
Hossegor Surfing this August started with a bang. We have had some truly amazing waves to start the month.
Yes we had an 8 foot thumper of a swell arrive with the month of August. All of the beaches north of Hossegor were too big to surf , but around the Capbreton area it was all on ! Definitely not a swell for the faint hearted. VVF , La Piste and Santosha were about as good and as gnarly as it gets.
With Santosha holding a massive crowd as its the smallest of the waves to surf we headed for VVF. Santosha is a world class wave , but at this size swell is super serious. It does tend to be a bit smaller than VVF or La Piste , therefore more crowds.
VVF had a line of photographers on the beach working for all the top brands. They were snapping all the pros in the line up. Although at this size a lot of people may talk about it , in reality this place is a beast of a wave, so not too many takers. Its a tricky wave to surf at 4-6 foot but bigger is hardcore. The snapped board situation on the beach was pretty high. I counted 5 snapped boards in an hour. Waves like this one below were continuous for about an hour and a half.
If you are thinking that you this would make your life complete to surf some monster perfect waves like this . your right! The problem for most visiting surfers is that if your not local you probably wont know which beach to head to and when. When you stay with us you can get it right by taking advantage of our surf guiding service.
